On Food

Wow. Today I ate the Thanksgiving Dinner of Eternal Stuffedness. Nine and a half hours later, I'm still not hungry. I did something I generally don't do on Thanksgiving -- gorged myself. I think it was the two pieces of chocolate-chip pound cake that did it. After the four-layer delight, I mean.

Anyways, Hannah said I'll probably make up for it tomorrow by not eating as much, since I'll be with my lover and I'll probably be talking to her a bunch. After saying that, she changed her mind and said that we'd actually probably be mostly looking into each other's eyes. She's a smart one, that sister of mine...

I'll probably eat something in a couple of hours here, because I can tell I'm going to get hungry fairly soon. I did snack on a few leftovers from dinner at suppertime, so it's not like I haven't eaten anything since then.

Anyways, yeah, eating. Quite enjoyable; I like it very much. My darling Lana isn't as fond of it as I am; there are of course foods that she likes, but on the whole she sees eating as something you have to do (or in her case sometimes, something you SHOULD do but DON'T; I love you, darling), rather than something you get to do.

But I'm a teenage boy and will be for another year-plus, and I loved eating long before I turned thirteen. I mean, sure, it's primarily a means of satisfying your bodily needs, but it's pretty pleasurable as well. Thanksgiving dinner isn't my favorite, not really even close to my favorite. What I can't wait for is Christmas: For that, instead of doing traditional turkey-dressing-potatoes-blah stuff, my dad's family cooks up Mexican. Oh yeah, that's awesome stuff there...

As far as what my favorite is, I would have to go with my mom's homemade pizza (preferred meat on it is sausage; sorry darling). Among my other favorites would be tacos, chili, vegetable-beef soup, chicken and dumplings, lasagna, and spaghetti; all as my mom makes them, of course.

So what are some of you guys' favorite foods?

Luke,
Thanks! I always knew somebody'd think I was smart.... :P
Anyways, guys are teenagers from 13 to 25...they still eat that much!!!!!! :P
Anyways, yeah...the food rocked my face off...
And, I like your favorite foods...just not the vegetable soup as much...
I'd add: Refried beans, cranberry sauce, upside-down pizza, pasta, and cheese dip...yes, I'm craving mexican!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, that's all...
Oh, and for Dusty: I like BURRITOS! HA!

Luke, my love, I will have to hook you on an alternate sausage, like turkey, which my family likes, and it is SOOOO good on pizza.

Luke refers to the fact that I typically avoid 'unclean' meats. Don't think eating them is sin, but it's not a healthy choice, so in the interest of being a good steward of my body (and because almost every time I eat pork I get sick...) I avoid it.
My favorite food is ice cream! haha, but I don't eat it lots, since it's not healthy unless I make it.

Sometimes, I just don't want to eat, and I just have to... Dad told me yesterday if I didn't (for long enough) I would die... But honestly, darling, most of the time I enjoy eating, really. I only don't at certain times, when I feel fat or something...

We'll have to see if anything I cook can make it onto your favorite list, my love ;^P
Merry Christmas, darling.

Luke Hobbs said...

I'm sure my favorite list will look radically different in a few years, darling.

Oh, and yeah, alternate sausage is good. I didn't think about it, but we actually use beef sausage a lot of the time on our pizza.

Oh wow, Luke, you really listened to Hannah's threats, huh? Don't worry, she threatens me with stuff like that all the time.... oh, but of course, I obey her... :P I have to say though that you come up with the most creative threats, Luke... LOL!

Wow, this was interesting... a whole blog post about.... food?! Weird.... def. a teenage guy's blog, though if we must get into that I say you're not officially a teenager even though you may eat like one, b/c you're legally an adult.

Lana, once again, I agree with you here! :P Sure, I do enjoy eating most of the time but it's not something I get overly excited about, and I do go through phases of not eating much at all. Ask Hannah, she literally had to MAKE me eat all week at camp. Partly I wasn't feeling well, and partly I was just not hungry! :P

Anyway, this was def. an interesting post.. you'd think you were hungrywhen you wrote it, but you said otherwise so whatever...

Oh yall rock some boat with the Mexican thing on Christmas! We do lotsa different stuff on Christmas. I don't like turkey, but I like eating it b/cuz it's Thansgiving! Heehee! But I gotta say, New Year's Eve is the best around here! Meatballs, junk food, lotsa chips, dip, and grab around stuff! I'd rather eat around than sit down and actually EAT. Come to think of it, the Superbowl's good around here too! But for everydays, pizza, mexican, and lasagna are AWESOME!

Lady of somethin' er 'nother... said...

Ok so my favorite food is Stofers lasagna. I know it is store bought but it really is my favorite. I try homemade and like it but it still isn't as good. Twisted I know.

As to turkey. Smoked turkey rocks my sox. And deep fried turkey. MMmmm.

At Christmas some times we just make a ton of snack food and deserts and eat them through out the day. Tis good. Any time that ones makes, doesn't just buy, but makes special snack food tis wondermous.

I am off to look at Christmas light.

g2g ;D

Unknown said...

I like lasagna too, though I'm sorry Lady, but I've never had storebought lasagna that I could compare to mom's homemade, which is the best in the world, and I really, really like mexican lasagna. I also like german potato salad, and pizza with chicken on top. and chicken noodle soup (or turkey, like we always have the day after thanksgiving!)And I like chicken salad esp the way i make it, and I'm making me hungry!!

Luke Hobbs said...

OK, maybe I'm not a teenage boy, but I am a teenage man, then. The teens don't stop just 'cause you're legal, thank the Lord.

Anonymous said...

A teenage man! That's great... I'll go with that. :P

KCD here. I can see very plainly that this whole conversation between all of you is going nowhere REAL fast! :) Ya Luke, I know what you mean, after I eat my dinner, I thought I might see it again! :) ANYWAY! Peace out big dude!

Luke, I think you concern my mom when you persist in designating yourself "teenage boy". Teenage man sounds a lot better, if you have to specify 'teen' at all.
I just don't know that she's real comfortable with the thought that the man who is going to marry me still calls himself a teenage boy, ya know?
Course, I guess technically, we're both in our teens still... But I won't be for very much longer...
Somehow, I imagine you'll EAT like a teenager for a very long time ;^P
I love you, my man.
~your girl

Emma said...

I think he's only referring to his eating habits when he calls himself a teenage boy... :P At least, that's Hannah's argument whenever I say he's an adult... lol
~Emy

Gosh.
Our kitchen's getting redone, so no eating good for us for 4 days:z

Hannah Hobbs said...

Yeah, I think so...that and the fact that he's still "to young to be told that some things are impossible." You know.
And, Emma, what would you call Dusty? I can call him...what do I call you, Dusty? You're not really an adult sometimes, but you're not quite a teenage boy...I dunno. I guess you're just the youth-pastor-that's-related-to-Trevor-and-is-still-alive-and-minister-of-complaints.
Okay, going now.
Don't slap me, please!

I've not eaten today, and wasn't hungry until I saw this post again...

Anonymous said...

hmm, maybe that would work for me, Lana? :P I was sick Sunday night and didn't eat much of anything yesterday... I'm still not hungry, but I think if I read this entire post about food I'll make myself more sick!

Hannah, Dusty is *def* and adult... he's... idk, old... :P JK, Dusty!! But he can no longer be a teenage anything!!! He may be a man with immature moments, but that's all... LOL

~EMY~

Luke Hobbs said...

Thanks for the clarification, gals; that was indeed what I meant by teenage boy. I am one (I fervently hope) in eating habits only. No comments, Dusty! I know you're out there!

Unknown said...

Thanks, darling, you had us concerned... :^P

Hi, Dusty! BTW, if you read this, I miss you, since i haven't seen you in ages, since we haven't filmed in ages. Luke was s'posed to tell you that, did he? Haha, maybe Emma can tell you. I miss Chris and D, too...

Btw, I had dinner *today*. Dinner is a good thing to have ;^P

Anonymous said...

I'll tell him tonight, ok? Since I've also heard that guys (esp. two brothers of Hannah's) can be very forgetful at time.... LOL! But then I will be the one missing him, and everyone else... I am so sad about missing two whole weeks of church. I will be very busy of course but I will still miss everyone muches...

Yes, dinner *is* a good thing to have... but when you're as nervous as I am any type of food makes you feel sick... :(

~EmY~

Unknown said...

sorry, emy, that you feel sick.

Want advice from an expert on feeling nervous and sick?
Grapes, eat grapes, they always make me feel better. Other fresh fruit does to, but especially cold grapes...
Somebody tell emma, in case she manages not to see this, to EAT GRAPES!
and also eat small amounts of whatever else you can...
Ummm, and chocolate has never made me nauseous :^P

Emma said...

grapes.... ok, i'll try that... thanks...
~emy

Hannah Hobbs said...

Lana, I've asked Emy...she never eats veggies or fruit...*tsk, tsk, tsk* :P jk, actually. She ate some at camp. :P
And Dusty CAN'T be an adult!!!!!! Btw, Dusty, sorry y'all lost. :(
He's...he's...he's...he's related to Trev. Therefore he CAN'T BE! :P
Jk, again...
okay, I gotta stop this...
Hey, Luke, you need to post...or I
WILL do something to you!!!!:P :P :P
Hannah

Emma said...

Well, Lana, I must admit, Hannah's partially right... I never eat vegetables. Uh, potatoes is as close as I get. I will eat fruit.. I eat apples, and canned mandarin oranges and pineapple, and sometimes grapes if we have them....
WHY in the world are we discussing our eating habits???? Luke, dear brother, PLEASE post so we can stop talking about food!!!!! *shudder* it's making me sick!
~Emy

Unknown said...

Sorry, Emma, I was just tryin' to help... :( *pathetic face*

Sorry, Hannah, Dusty is an adult, and one day Trevor will be one too. and so will Tara, and so will Emy, and sometime after that you will also.
Now, will any of us ever really become *serious* adults? I don't know...

Luke Hobbs said...

Sister Emy, you will get no sympathy from me on your not eating vegetables. If you've never worked on that in your life to this point, now's the time to start.

I don't want to become a serious adult; well, actually, I guess it depends on the definition.

Emma said...

Ooh, dear, brother Warrior... you sound a LOT like your (real) sister. :P Ya'll aren't very sympathetic on this point, at all, are you? :P

I think we will all eventually outgrow most of our craziness... it will still come out sometimes, I"m sure, and it will take longer for some to outgrow it than it will others... lol...

oh wow, I'm depressed... tonight was the last time I'll be at church for two weeks!!! :'(

~Emy

Emma said...

but, what I don't understand is *why*, when I'm not hungry, everyone says I should eat...??
~Emy

Unknown said...

I don't understand it either.
Well, I mean, I know if you don't eat for a long time you die, but surely not eating for a couple days won't kill me? Or Emy, will it...
I'd like to try to talk the Emster into eating, but then Luke might turn those arguments against me...
:^P

So, Darling, looks like I'll have to take sister Emma's side...

So I ask you why, Darling Luke and others, why should people like Emma and myself eat, when our bodies tell us that we do not want food?

as far as being serious adults, we should be mature, be able to take care of adult responsibilities and be becoming more spiritually mature, socially responsible, etc, but we'll probably always maintain a degree of craziness, I hope i never grow out of dancing around the kitchen and singing while I clean (Luke told me not too ;P ) and I hope he doesn't grow out of his jokes and things like that...
We'd be so... boring.
i hope that all of us will still be fun and full of joy about being alive when we're old... Too many old people are stale... Plenty aren't though, praise the Lord! But then, I don't know if I would call them "old people"...

Emma said...

thx 4 taking my side Lana... :P I understand of course that you have to eat and that food IS essential to life... but, when I'm so nervous that I can't eat, and I'm not hungry, I don't see why I should eat....

All right, then, we'll just have to all remember this and hold each other accountable to being joyful and fun even when we're old.... won't THAT be interesting?? We'll all be old and retired and sitting around typing away on our old-fashioned computers and laptops, blogging and emailing and commenting each other, and our grandkids will come up to us and inform us that blogging is so not in and such a thing of the past, and that all the words and shortcuts we use are extremely old school... LOL what a scary thought, all of us when we're old... :P

Lady of somethin' er 'nother... said...

Emy dearie if you don't eat not only will you become sluggish but your immune system will also be weakened. I know when you get nervous or excited you don't either. I didn't eat (basically) for three days once cause I was so excited. Not eating now, and good food at that, will effect your health later. Sometimes sooner than later. Carrots are always good food when one is nervous or excited. And I second(or is it third) Lana's grapes.

Hmm will I ever become a serious adult? If you can believe it (not that it matters) I used to be told to lighten up. I don't have to be told that anymore! I am a mommier. So much of the time I am the "adult" of my various groups of friends.
;D

Hannah Hobbs said...

Um, Emma??? WHY do you have to eat? Good grief, you can answer for me. Haven't I told you this over and over again?
1. You eat so that you can fufill God's purpose for you on this earth: to tell others about him. If you're sick, or about to pass out from lack of food, I doubt you're going to be doing that.
2. You eat because your body is the temple of the Lord and you want to take care of it. If you were a...say, a goatie, you would make them eat...Because you know they need it.
3. I agree with Lady, you have to eat to build up your immune system.
4. You eat to survive, and to "live life abundantly."
5. You know! Good grief, I've told you enough times.
Question for you and Lana: So, you don't eat because you say you're not hungry, and your bodies don't want food????

Unknown said...

alright, so I know why we eat... It's just, if I don't feel like I need to eat, if I feel like I'll throw up if I eat, because I'm so emotionally agitated or whatever...
But, *sigh* I will eat... I did eat, okay? okay.
Emma, Hannah has good arguments, and plus luke and mom make me eat, so maybe you should eat too, at least a bit of fruit.
(haha, if I have to, you have to!! MWAHAHA)

Anonymous said...

ah, immune system... I hadn't thought of that. good idea... b/c we have several members of our cast who are already sick and we are all in close quarters for long periods of time and will catch anything and everything.... k, I'll eat sometimes... :P
~Emy

Unknown said...

you might consider eating honey and oranges and cinammon- all immune boosters.
I like honey and cinnamon together on toast...
Garlic is an immune booster, too, but it's harder on the stomache...

Emma said...

honey and cinammon??? hmm.... ok, thx 4 all the tips!

My little sis said Maab and that's what I've got until I get something better. Does anybody know of anything good and dwarfy?

I think Maab sounds cool, but not so dwarvish. sorry, I'm not much help with LOTR language stuff...

Emma said...

haha, but you're better than me... LOL

Hannah Hobbs said...

Hey Meggy,
there are some AWESOME websites that generate names...I'll look some up for you and email them to you...ok???

PS LUKE! I know you're INCREDIBLY busy...so I think I'll just post for you sometime. :)

Anonymous said...

hahaha, someone just PLEASE post something so I'll quit having to read and talk about FOOD!!!!!! :p

Luke Hobbs said...

Hmm, a descendant of Mim. You've got me interested, Meggy. No, Maab doesn't sound very dwarvish, but Third Age names like Floi or Nali might not be very appropriate, either.
